ORAFEC.org announces revised search engine component to site

For immediate release
ORAFEC.org launched to the public on October 13, and we have experienced unforeseen growth in membership and people trying out our new search engine of parts, photographs, pricing, and testing information. We thought we would share with you some of the experience we’ve gained since then.
- We’ve had a steady increase in the number of searches on the site since Day 1. This has led us to concentrate our efforts on making the search more accessible and useful to the person who’s trying to find information on the part they need when they need it. As part of that, we’ve introduced a new Quick Lookup feature that gives you the top 20 results for your search, both from our database of photos and from our database of pricing information. That way, you can be sure that even if we don’t have a photo of a part (more on that later), you’ll be able to find pricing information. This is an improvement over the search at launch time. Don’t worry, if you don’t like it, you’ll be able to turn it off.
- We’ve made some changes in the graphics of the site, just to make things clearer and easier to recognize from page to page.
- We’ve also changed the thread pages, to make it easier for you to know where you are on the site, and how to get back to wherever else you may want to be.
- We’ve gotten lots of part submissions from ORAFEC.org users, and we are very excited about the level of participation so far. Got a part you think we should buy for our IC Bank? Submit a picture to us! Come across a fraudulent part? Submit a report and add your information to ours! ORAFEC.org is above all a community helping itself.
These are just some of the things that have happened in the few weeks since we launched. We’ll be sending out future reports of this nature periodically, to make sure that you know what’s going on with ORAFEC.org.
